Directions
-
Prepare the Chicken: In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until well-coated. Dip each piece into the beaten eggs, ensuring they are fully covered.
-
Fry the Chicken: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
-
Make the Sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine the orange juice, soy sauce, white vinegar, sugar, brown sugar, orange zest, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
-
Thicken the Sauce: Once the sauce is boiling, add the cornstarch-water mixture and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes. Reduce the heat to low.
-
Combine Chicken and Sauce: Add the fried chicken pieces to the saucepan and toss to coat them evenly with the sauce.
-
Serve: Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
